Nehemiah House is pleased to present Kendall Prowell of Auburn Grenshaw with the first Nehemiah House College scholarship. Kendall is a product of the Chicago Public School system. His academic career started with James E. McDade Classical Elementary School at the age of 5. Where the culture is to instill value and produce excellence starting at a young age. From McDade Elementary he went on to attend and graduate from Kenwood Academy. Kendall graduated in the top 100 of his class and maintained a 4.0 grade point average. Throughout his academic career Kendall excelled in his honor courses, his instructors described Kendall to be self-motivated, solution focused and wise beyond his years. Direct quotes from his instructors to describe his character, “He always carries himself with dignity and respect and I am impressed with his level of maturity. He distances from negative influences and surrounds himself with like-minded individuals.” - Lanissa Muhammad Mathematics Instructor.
Outside his academics Kendall is a natural athlete active in the following sports, swimming, baseball, martial arts, and basketball. Kendall will tell you his favorite sport is basketball overall. When it comes to community service there is no surprise how active and involved Kendall is in his community. He firmly believes in making an impact with those around him. “Kendall has shown outstanding leadership in the club and has been a consistent participant. I have overall seen his sense of community responsibility develop in the program, as well as confidence and character.”- Timothy Lee President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, EXS Chapter.
Kendall’s vision for the future is to become a Financial Manager and develop a program for the youth and instill those values of financial literacy. Nehemiah House looks forward to the future achievements of Kendall. He has proved to be exceptional in all activities he is involved in. In closing, Nehemiah House has invited him to pass the torch to the next Nehemiah House Scholarship recipient. Once again congratulations Kendall and good luck on your many future endeavors on behalf of Nehemiah House.
